PICS (Platform for Internet Content Selection)
PICS is a no-longer-prominent rating technology developed by the W3 Org which was (in the popular mind) mainly for preventing children from being exposed to inappropriate material. In truth, it is a general and well though-out rating system with an emphasis on filtering things out rather than on both excluding and finding things according to ratings.
chaos theory
The study of systems exhibiting discontinuous change.

evaluation
A subjective evaluation by some person of an entity (an URL or idea or whatever) with respect to a particular criterion.
evaluation binges
Nearly everyone I know who has tried Movie Critic has gone on a binge, evaluating film after film. One reason for such binges is that it is rather fun. Another major reason for evaluation binges with Movie Critic is that it offers no other way than 'training' the system for people to get any decent recommendations out of it.
